Non-Destructive Extraction Dorset Based Save Your Existing Lock

Dorset's Broken Key Extraction Specialists

Snapping a key in your front door is incredibly frustrating, but it doesn't automatically mean you need a completely new lock. However, the biggest mistake homeowners make is trying to fish the broken blade out with tweezers, pins, or superglue. This almost always pushes the metal fragment deeper into the pins, wedging it permanently and destroying the cylinder.

Before you reach for the toolbox, let our local Dorset engineers help. We use specialist micro-extractor tools, spiral hooks, and cylinder lubricants to carefully grip and remove the snapped blade without damaging the delicate internal mechanism. If you have a spare key, we can often extract the broken piece and have your door working normally again in minutes—saving you the need for a full lock replacement.

Damage-Free Extraction

Save Your Lock.
Keep Your Keys.

  • Safe Extraction Tools We use professional broken key extractors designed to bypass the pins and grip the snapped blade without ruining the cylinder.
  • Keep Your Existing Keys If the lock is healthy and the broken piece comes out cleanly, your remaining spare keys will continue to work perfectly.
  • Cylinder Replacements If a seized or failing lock caused the key to snap in the first place, our vans carry a full range of high-security anti-snap cylinders to replace it on the spot.
  • Priority Rapid Routing Being locked out because of a broken key is an emergency. We dispatch exclusively to local BH postcodes to get to you fast.

Broken Key FAQS.

Don't reach for the toolbox. Here is the honest truth about professional key extraction, why DIY methods fail, and what happens if you don't have a spare.

Will I have to replace my whole lock?
In most cases, absolutely not. If the lock was functioning normally before the key snapped (due to metal fatigue), we can carefully extract the broken blade using specialist micro-tools. Once removed, your spare keys will work perfectly. We only recommend replacement if the internal mechanism is completely seized or damaged.
I can see the broken piece. Can I just pull it out with tweezers?
We strongly advise against this. Tweezers, pins, or superglue almost always push the broken fragment deeper into the lock's pins, wedging it permanently. What could have been a fast, simple extraction often turns into a forced lock replacement when DIY methods are attempted.
I don't have a spare key. What happens after you extract the broken one?
We will secure your property. Getting the broken piece out is only half the job if you don't have a backup. In this scenario, we extract the blade to gain non-destructive entry, and then we can immediately replace the cylinder from our van stock so you have a brand new set of keys.
